My First Time to Hike Slamet Mountain

 First thing first, My name is Mohammad Aziz Robyanto and I would tell you that I had a bunch  of friends in hiking the mountain. They love Hiking so much, and by the it was them had a plan to go hiking. And they decided to drag me in,even though they knew that I hate outdoor event but they insist to take me in.So I decided to give it a try. At that time, we decided to meet up at My house,after 30 minutes waiting for  all my friend to gather we started our trip by praying and then we went to our destination “slamet mountain”.

After we arrived we started to walk around the field area and the forest.In that short of holiday time, there were so many hikers which hiking in Slamet Mountain at that time. So, when we walked, we often stopped to let the people who have climbed to down the hill.

At first,hiking wasn’t my hobby but after I tried it once,it become one.Even though we have to fight to reach the top of it,we didn’t regret at all.It was true if someone said that hiking are tiring,exhausting, and it was true too,but after reaching the peak,that feel of exhausting is gone,that after a few days from climbing the mountain, we would feel aching through all of our body, especially in leg, shoulder, and back,but that things never lessen my fondness in hiking.

We went from base camp about 8 p.m and arrived in post 6 about 4 a.m, technically there were 9 post before we reached the top.we also heard about one post that haunted,we’re scared but we also eager to go to the top.Then we set the tents, two tents for nine people. And we started to cook the meals we brought. One of my friend brought alot of instan noodle and instan coffee,after we cooked it the we eat it right away.It doesn’t feels hot at all.after that we take a rest it was so cold, so I hid in my sleeping bag completely.its feel like we’re sleeping in giant fridge.

It was long, difficult, and hard to reach the post 6.at the 6th post one of my friend Hery got sick and decided stop,after long discussion one of us “ healthy one” need to accompany him,so i the one who will accompany Hery,but he insisted that i need to continue my journey,to be honest I feel so darn exhausted,my legs are trembeling.But i try to motivated myself,then take a deep breath and continue my trip.So 2 out of 9 chose to not continue the trip. It was about 7 a.m, seven of us continued the trip in the slippery track. We left the tent in post 6, and just brought the mini bags filled with flashlight,handphone,camera,water, and some snacks,we left 2 of us to watch the stuff that we left behind.

We had to pass the vegetation area which have so many thorn-bush to the sand area which was so hard to be passed.  Finally, it took almost 3 hours from 6 post to the peak. It had crater of volcano in its peak, so we should take the mask to prevent from inhaling the sulphur gases.

It was an amazing thing in my lifetime to have the chance to climb the highest mountain in Central Java. So we were so happy to take pictures there. It only needed one and half hours from the peak to go back in 6th post, because we jogged down the track.

After that, we prepared to go home, and packed our stuff. We down the track about 4 pm.the thing is our friends that we left at 6th post are gone,they didn’t tell us about it and the most annoying of all is,they left the tent wide open and our valueable stuff in there.good thing that our valueable still in there.

This is, my holiday story. It was truly amazing to have chance to go hiking on Slamet Mountain,,because that was my first time to hike such a amazing mountain.
